Optimization of Element Forms for Transport Manufacturing Structures

The paper presents the methods of solve optimization problems for structure elements in transport manufacturing using MATLAB package. The target functions are: steady-state displacement and stresses, amplitudes of the dynamic displacement and stresses, functions of natural frequencies and forms of oscillations. The numerical examples consider different model structures: 1-, 2- and 3-dimensional, which are used to solve problems of minimizing static or dynamic stresses. They are to longitudinal oscillations of a beam, static stresses in a thin axle-symmetrical shell ? thin-walled reservoir of a wagon structure and dynamic stresses in a turbine blade. The studies carried out have shown that the MATLAB package and its extensions (PDE Toolbox, Optimization Toolbox, FEMLAB) are completely appropriate to solve optimization problems of deformed structures in solid mechanics.
