ANALYSIS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE BY PLANNING REGIONS IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA

The Republican Road Network (RRW) provides connections between cities and villages in the country as well as those with neighboring countries to carry passengers and freight. Republican roads are classified according to their administrative and economic importance and their functions in the transport system in the following classes: motorways and first, second and third class roads providing transport connection of national importance and forming the state road network. Separate national roads are d in the trans-European road network. The article will analyze the Republican Road Network by planning regions in the Republic of Bulgaria. The analysis covers statistics in different sections, such as road network development by road and district class, road network density and road network change in the Northeast Planning Region.
