SPECIFICS IN THE WORK OF THE CARDAN SHAFT BETWEEN THE WHEELSET REDUCERS OF TRAM BOGIE T81 WITH BLOCK PRO-PULSION OF THE WHEELSETS

This paper refers to trams types Т6М 700 и Т8М 700 М, which are in use in Sofia. These trams have a group propel of the wheelsets and the movement of the traction motors to the wheelset reducers is transmitted through cardan shafts. The subject of the paper are the failures of the short cardan shafts which transmit the motion between the two wheel-sets reducers of a bogie and the related by the kinematic chain input shafts of the reducers, bearings and the flanges. The statistics of emergency failures on the chassis and powertrain in these trams for the period 2009 - 2015 year shows that out of 213 accidents for the period, 96 are on the cardan shafts and the related to them components of the group ”Input shaft - short cardan shaft - input shaft”. Data from the tram depot ”Banishora” shows that in the same period 276 short cardan shafts have been repaired and a 195 new input shafts for the wheelset reducers have been delivered. These cardan shafts and their related components operate under heavy dynamic loads. In traction mode they transmit the torque with uneven-ness due to the work of the cardan shaft from the traction motor. In the inertial mode and electrodynamic braking mode they are under the effect of torque due to the difference in the diameters of the wheels of the wheelsets of the bogie. These are the modes that tramway coaches have in about 90% of the time of operation.
