![]() LABORATORY TEST OF TENSILE FOUNDATION
Stoyna Kostova The article presents the specifics of testing tensile foundations (anchors) in noncohesive soils. In noncohesive soils cohesion is usually small in value and in some cases, forces of interaction between the particles /cohesion/ are ignored. Gravelly and sandy soils are noncohesive soils. In Eurocode 7 2 [1] these soils are called nonplastic. Particles of noncohesive soils are from 200 to 0,1 mm.
When we talk about cohesive soils, we understand clayey soils, like sandy clay, clayey sand or clay. In Eurocode 7 2 [1], clayey soils are called plastic soils. Particles of clayey soils are very small - sizes smaller than 0,005 mm. This article shows the experiments made with sandy soil. We observe and analyze sliding surfaces that formed by the maximum effort, which sandy soil can bear under tension forces of anchor foundations put in it. We study the relation between depth of anchor and maximum tension force. Another relation we monitor is between compaction of the noncohesive soil in the area around anchor and maximum tension force .
