In the present study is to examine the main features, the real situation and the prospects for the development of road infrastructure in the direction of transport corridor number 8 (Duras-Tirana-Skopje-Sofia-Plovdiv-Burgas-Varna).

The main purpose is to attempt to determine the possible savings in operating costs for improvement of road infrastructure, through the use of the method of the scenarios. In the case of the first variant road infrastructure is in this condition, and in the second option, it is accepted that have been already implemented projects for the construction of highways and speed roads in the land direction of trans-European transport corridor 8. It should be stressed that, saving operating costs only internal costs, and external costs are not presented due to the lack of reliable data and estimates of these costs in the countries through which transport corridor.
