The assessment of the development of logistics activities in a given country or region determines the physical dependence of the companies in this field on the physical conditions, regardless of their organizational and technical advantages. Logistics activities in Bulgaria provided by carriers, warehouse operators and freight forwarders are generally carried out under existing domestic and international conditions, which in many cases differ significantly.

As an interactive tool for comparative analysis and evaluation, the logistics performance index helps the individual countries in the process of identifying threats and opportunities arising from foreign trade logistics aiming at the improvement of the existing situation. Logistics performance index as a method of study was introduced by the World Bank in partnership with academic and international institutions as well as with private companies and individuals engaged in international logistics.

Based upon data of the logistics performance index from the World Bank, the paper covers the analysis of international logistics in the country, with an emphasis on the quality of transport infrastructure.
