AT ASYNCHRONOUS DRIVES WITH FREQUENCY CONTROL
Vasil Dimitrov The harmonics can cause problems ranging from telephone transmission interference, relay or UPS damages to degradation of conductors and insulating material in motors and transformers. Unwanted distortion can increase the current in power systems which results in higher temperatures in neutral conductors and distribution transformers and could cause damage to power systems. Therefore it is important to gauge the total effect of these harmonics. The summation of all harmonic components of the voltage or current waveform compared against the fundamental component of the voltage or current wave is known as total harmonic distortion (THD).The end result is a percentage comparing the harmonic components to the fundamental component of a signal. The higher the percentage, the more distortion that is present on the mains signal. A laboratory stand was developed and gives many possibilities of examinations of frequency controlled asynchronous drives. In this article, some experimental tests on the harmonic presence at various speed and load are examined. NET VISION 2010 portable device is used for a precise measurement of the electric values of the mains voltage and current. A comparison with theoretically deduced relationships and obtained results is made.
