This paper is about designing of friction piles according to Bulgarian Standart for Pile Foundation 1993. In order to determine a correct value for the settlement of a pile, an experiment is made. The experiment shows the behavior of friction pile under vertical static load according to specific geological conditions. The test results are compared to the predictions (project values).

At the end, a correlation between the prediction and the experimental settlement of the pile is obtained. A parameter k is introduced.

The conclusion is about avoiding the table method afore static one for the design of friction piles according to Bulgarian Standarts for Pile Foundation 1993.
