SOLAR INSTALLATION FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES
Ivan Milenov, Vasil Dimitrov The utilization of solar energy is a means of achieving sustainable energy development. In this paper, a solar PV installation is designed. It is mounted on the roof of the University building. All necessary components and modules to obtain stable output AC voltage regardless of the intensity of solar radiation are provided. Produced energy powers the lighting and other low-voltage consumers in the laboratory “Renewable energy sources”. This system is used for research and training of the students and improves the quality of students education. The lecturers and PhD students have the opportunity to set examinations on the solar PV system. This solar system also reduces electricity costs. The direct economic effect will be over 18 000 Euro as the life of these systems is over 20 years.
