The regulation of the negative impact of transport on environment and the people is an essential element of sustainable development of transport. The report presents the quantitative estimates of the impact of transport on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions through key indicators. The assessment is carried out on the basis of official statistical data of energy consumption, emissions of ozone precursors and greenhouse gas emissions. The indicators are presented in a schematic order for the period 2000 - 2011 and indicators for the level, dynamics, trends and the relative level of indicators for the transport sector in . Comparative assessment of the global effects of emissions of greenhouse gases is performed in accordance with the EU average values. This report shows the progress of Bulgarian transport in particular terms of the main indicators for the sustainable development of transport and terms of environmental impact. These results are due to the negative economic development trends, such as the overall reduction of the traffic and the reduction of the market share of rail transport.
