The vehicle repair services are necessarily attributive for maintaining the technical serviceability of transport means as a condition for the process of transportation. The practice in the country has imposed one or more than one control check-ups every year in order to determine and estimate the degree of technical serviceability of each road vehicle included in the national register. Simultaneously with the annual control operation, the authorized services perform also a number of non-technical functions, by which the contribution of the vehicle to the national economy is assessed.

Because of the change of the economic management model in the country, serious changes in the contribution, essence, contents, importance and volume of the service activities have occurred since 1990.

The vehicle development implies the necessity of changing and improving the national policy in regard to the repair activities, as now it is a hidden generator of ineffective input of national labor resources and costs for the import of new spare part.

The paper presents particular ways to improve the national policy in this field as a condition of its effectiveness increase.
