Transport companies in the Republic of Bulgaria, for the most part, fall into the group of micro, small and medium enterprises. These enterprises contribute to the proper functioning of mobility not only in the country, but also internationally - the countries of the European Union and third countries. Their contribution to the formation of added value is mostly in remote and densely populated areas. Due to the fact that they know the local market very well, that they are close to the customer, that they have the ability to respond quickly and innovate, that they are able to provide tailored services, that they create jobs, generate economic activity, they are extremely important for the development of the economy as a whole. A significant part of these enterprises experience difficulties in investing in non-current assets, because they do not have a sufficient volume of their own financial resources. At the same time, in order to achieve effective development of their business, they should renew and expand their non-current resources. In conditions of crisis, low profitability, limited access to capital markets, for many transport companies the only possibility to acquire the necessary means of transport, equipment and other non-current assets is the leasing contract.

The purpose of this report is to examine and evaluate the development of the leasing market of means of transport in the Republic of Bulgaria and at the same time to outline the advantages and practical benefits of the application of leasing transactions in the economic activity of these enterprises.
