Freight transport has a key role for the economic, social and public development of the country, as it is a necessary condition for the normal functioning of all economic sectors. The national transport market is a sphere of demand and supply of transport services and related capacities. This report analyzes the dynamics of demand for freight transport in different modes of transport. The trends in the quantities of transported goods, the carried out transport work and the changes in the average transport distance are monitored. The analyzed period (2015 – 2022) covers the time after the recovery of the country`s economy from the global financial and economic crisis and ends with the passing of the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The examined eight-year period allows to trace some trends in the development of the country`s freight transport market and, on this basis, to make recommendations for its sustainable future development.
