COMMUNICATION AND TRAIN CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE 3RD LINE OF THE SOFIA METRO ALONG VAZOV BOULEVARD
Svetoslav Tomov, Emiliya Dimitrova The project for the extension of Line 3 of the metro in Sofia in the ”Hadji Dimitar” - ”Levski” section is part of a general plan designed to ensure sustainable transport connectivity of the main directions in the capital through the implementation of safe, fast and ecological urban mass transport. It s a 3 km long tunnel section and 3 metro stations.
This report considers the dedicated position for control and safety systems as: Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), Transport Communication System, Integrated Radio Communication System, SCADA System for power supply, Platform Screen Doors System. The estimated benefits after the implementation of the project are increased number of passengers traveling by metro while maintaining the safety, comfort and convenience, guaranteed maximum travel speed of 80 km/h without being affected by traffic and atmospher conditions, reduction of harmful gases - fine dust particles, lead aerosols, etc. in the city and the region.
