The issue of overcoming socio-economic disparities in the European Union (EU) and the role of cohesion policy is very important. The EU`s cohesion policy aims to reduce the development disparities between different regions and Member States by supporting their economic and social cohesion.

One of the main challenges in the EU is the existence of large economic and social disparities between richer and poorer regions. These disparities can manifest themselves in unequal distribution of wealth, low living standards, unemployment, lack of infrastructure, transport, regional disparities, demographic problems and access to quality education and healthcare. Overcoming these disparities is essential to ensure the sustainable and economic development of Member States within the EU.
