In the context of the new ments for a green and digital transition, Towards a green, digital and resilient economy: our European Growth Model - energy efficiency, working from home, it appears that transport workers need to up-skill, sometimes reskill, to improve various smart skills: communication, language, computer skills, critical thinking, negotiation, building green attitudes and new habits to save resources, dealing with burnout and following the work-leisure balance.

Due to limited training budgets within companies, the article suggests funding sources that could provide high quality educational opportunities, often within international partnerships.

If SMEs in the transport sector participate more actively and take advantage of programmes such as Erasmus , Horizon, Life Plus, Interreg and others, transport workers will have access to the latest best practices and innovations also in terms of HR organisation. The best approach would be to have a team in each SME that monitors open calls and prepares the proposals the company needs.
