Bulgaria`s membership in the European Union gives the country the opportunity for new market relations, as well as to increase foreign direct investment. Bulgaria can also count on serious financial support from financial institutions and funds within the enlarged European Union. Our accession to the EU contributes to: a higher standard of living, improved economic prosperity, higher international prestige, strengthening democracy, increased competition, free movement of labor, goods, services and capital, long-term improvement transport infrastructure, transparency of taxation rules and corporate financial reporting, as well as simplified procedures for administering cross-border supplies with other Member States of the European Union.

Bulgaria also has a central role in the region, as its geopolitical position makes it a link between the Balkans and the Black Sea regions and a bridge for relations between the European Union and Turkey.

The report traces some aspects of Bulgaria`s development and benefits as a full member of the EU since 2007.
