SOME ASPECTS OF TEACHING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES COURSES (RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH) AT THE TODOR KABLESHKOV UNIVERSITY OF TRANSPORT

The article presents a conception of university students teaching within foreign language for specific purposes courses (Russian and English). Teaching is practically oriented, aims at the formation of foreign language competences for specific professional purposes, and encompasses several basic components.

The set of fundamental concepts and related terminology are specified together with specialists in corresponding fields. Mastering of terminology as well as of scientific style characteristic features make professional foreign language communication adequate.

Particular attention is paid to building skills for specialized text translation, to working with dictionaries, and, more specifically, to choosing correspondences providing maximal translation equivalence.

Training is founded on mental representations theory, their adequate formation is a basic prerequisite for language knowledge construction. Mental representations creation leads to coherently organized cognitive structures, determining more complicated and precise language knowledge, and, respectively, higher communicative competence. Mental representations are related to all levels of language deion, they are formed on the basis of language awareness and are directly connected to taught material degree of understanding. Language awareness building and enhancement are performed by means of language learning strategies implementation.
