POSSIBILITIES TO STIMULATE THE RAILWAY CARRIERS IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA BY ASSESSING OF THE ELECTRICAL ENERGY PRODUCED BY REGENERATIVE BRAKING FROM ROLLING STOCKS.
Ilko Tarpov, Todor Lalev The Republic of Bulgaria has actively participated in international efforts to prevent climate change by adopting the agreed European Union objectives and the large-scale energy package. Appropriate incentives and measures have been put into place to promote the consumption of electricity produced from renewable energy sources. Various measures have been developed to encourage the use of environmentally friendly means of transport (electric vehicles, electric cars, propane butane buses, etc.). Even it seems that in the field of the railway transportation, there is no common vision between the rail infrastructure operator and carriers in order to prevent climate change and to increase energy efficiency in the rail sector. Even there are no restrictions on the use of internal combustion engines with low-end environmental standard.
All this raises the question of whether incentives and common actions can be sought to introduce minimum standards for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly transport services in Bulgarian legislation.
