INFLUENCE OF THE VULNERABILITIES OF OFFSHORE INSTALLATIONS ON THE SECURITY AND SAFETY

Challenges to national energy policy international energy gas projects and the development of diversification alternatives. The projects are related to the operation of the maritime transportation system, oil-extraction platforms and deep-water pipelines. By applying a system-scenario approach, the article analyzes the vulnerabilities of offshore installations. The results contribute to focus the efforts of the competent institutions in developing and maintaining a favourable environment for security and safety in the national maritime areas.

The use of deep-water areas in the maritime space is related to the implementation of high technologies and technical innovations. Oil and gas extraction and their transportation to offshore environment s the use of equipment and technical means installed on the seabed along with drilling and extraction platforms. The operation of the main offshore objects depends on auxiliary vessels, which are functionally related to emergency rescue activities, performing logistics and positioning activities etc.

Determining critical vulnerabilities can be implemented in the process of designing basic structural elements on the security and safety environment. As vulnerable are defined a corpus, screw-head group, bottom-mounted armature, tanks for storage of explosive, highly flammable substances and fuel-lubricants, an information system and a positioning system, a ship power plant, a multifunctional tower, special designated drilling operations points, a helicopter areas.
