REPLACEMENT SUPERCAPACITORS WITH FLYWHEEL IN ELECTRIC BUS

The report examined the possibility of being replaced supercapacitors of electric bus with flywheel. Their objective is to preliminary calculations to verify the extent possible replacement of one way of accumulating energy to another, quite different. Demand for alternative energy storage derived from the fact that Bulgaria has no technology to produce supercapacitors. It is also questionable – high initial investment for supercapacitor, its limited life, subsequent maintenance, powerful and expensive special charging stations at start and end station whether a better option? Or suggested by the authors alternative, known to us for centuries (the rotating weight at high speed) under the umbrella of the new technologies – neodymium magnets, vacuum and IGBT transistors. Even with certain compromise, the possibility should not be rejected lightly and should be checked. The accumulation of energy is not only the first and last stop on the line and at every stop or traffic lights available with a standard trolley bus catenary.
