MODERNISATION OF STATIC CONVERTORS OF THE UKSBRІ-DB FOR A TRAM MOTRICE

Static converters (SC) are widely applied devices in electric transport vehicles (ETV) for direct and alternate current. Their key function is to ensure the d power-supply parameters and their stabilisation for the auxiliary loads in ETV, as well as to maintain the power charge level of batteries.

Static converters of the 2 UKSBR-DR type are widely used in the Т4-DM Czech tram motrices. Their power circuit is designed with a single cycle operation thyristor and commuting LC contours, which results in certain operational difficulties and reduces the reliability of the device. These circuit solutions reduce the commutation capacity and the effectiveness of the regulator in traction and braking modes.

The report presents the designing and modernisation of the power section of the static converter by the use of contemporary IGBT components.The control system has also been modernised by the use of microprocessors and made compliant with the ments of modern IGBT technology.
