ANCHORE FOUNDATIONS IN COHESIVE AND NONCOHESIVE SOILS

The article presents the characteristics of the anchor foundations in cohesive and noncohesive soils. Differences in cohesive and noncohesive soils lead to the emergence of different forces Which act in these soils. When we talk about cohesive soils, we understand clayey soils. The types clayey soils are sandy clay, clayey sand clay and clay. In Eurocode 7 2 [1], clayey soils are called plastic soils.

These soils are cohesive because they have the internal forces of interaction between the particles. These forces are called cohesion. Particles of these soils are very small. The particle sizes are smaller than 0,005mm. When trying to define the efforts in the soil caused by the tensile forces in the soil, for the cohesive soils is better to take into account these forces.

Gravels and sandy soils are the other large group of soils – noncohesive soils. In Eurocode 7 2 [1] these soils are called nonplastic. The article will examine the maximum effort that can bear cohesive and noncohesive soils when anchor foundations placed in the soil.
