PREVENTION IN THE MAINTENANCE OF ROADS AND ROAD FACILITIES

Prevention represents a planned economic strategy for preservation of road surfaces, structure, road facilities and accessories, components and properties of roads, extension of their useful life, enhancement of the comfort of travelers, and retention of the level of safety.

It is implemented with surfaces and facilities in predominantly good condition, significant residual maintenance period, and involves actions focused on reducing the effect of aging, as well as on the wear-and-tear of materials and structures.

Prevention consists of prophylactic maintenance which should begin as soon as the road is completed and put into operation.
