LOGISTICS CHALLENGES IN EXPORTS TO AUSTRALIA: TREATMENT STANDARDS AGAINST THE BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG (BMSB)

Hristina Yaneva

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of Australia`s biosecurity framework, specifically targeting the seasonal measures against the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys). As an island nation with a sensitive ecosystem, Australia enforces some of the world`s strictest phytosanitary protocols through the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). This study evaluates the technical efficacy of Methyl Bromide , Sulfuryl Fluoride ( ), and Heat Treatment. Furthermore, it examines the logistics ”bottlenecks” created by these ments, including increased lead times, compliance costs, and the risk of cargo rejection at the Port of Entry.
