This article examines the state and prospects for the development of transport infrastructure in Bulgaria through the application of SWOT and TOWS analysis. The study identifies the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related to the transport sector, with an emphasis on road, rail, maritime and air infrastructure. Key factors such as the country`s geostrategic position, membership in the European Union, the level of infrastructure modernization, regional imbalances, the lack of investments and the challenges related to sustainable development and digitalization are analyzed.

Through the TOWS analysis, strategic guidelines have been formulated for the effective use of existing advantages and opportunities, as well as for limiting the negative impact of weaknesses and external threats. Special attention is paid to the need for integrated transport policies, attracting European funding, developing intermodal transport and increasing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian transport system.

The results of the study show that the sustainable development of transport infrastructure is a key factor for economic growth, regional connectivity and the integration of Bulgaria into European transport networks.
