STRENGTH-DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF A METAL-RUBBER ELEMENT OF A SPRING SUSPENSION OF A TROLLEY WAGON

The metal-rubber element (MRE) is widely used in the spring suspension of transport vehicles - automobiles and railway equipment. The metal-rubber elements, which are widely used in both primary (axle) and secondary (central) spring stages of railway vehicles, need to be highly reliable. They need to be compact, combine elastic and damping properties and not operational maintenance. Their major drawback is the process of changing the characteristics over time, known as the ”aging” of the rubber. It has been established that the average life cycle of the axle spring suspension of locomotives and wagons in the operational practice of the Bulgarian State Railways since 1986 does not exceed 60% of the manufacturers` guaranteed life cycle. The present analysis s an imitation analysis performed using the finite element method to determine the stress distribution. Based on nonlinear quasi-static modeling and residual stress analysis, registration and superposition, a methodology for predicting the service life of MGE, taking into account material fatigue, has been developed. The method used to estimate fatigue and life cycle duration is based on previously determined material data and effective stress. The stress sensor is integrated with finite elements using SolidWorks 2010. A proposal is made for embedding MGE in the axle spring stage of a passenger bogie. The results obtained in the study can be used to optimize the main design parameters and characteristics of a spring suspension with MGE.
