COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE WEAR OF TRAM TRACK TYRES IN THE CITY OF SOFIA

The material examines the type, method and intensity of wear of tram track tires in the city of Sofia. In 2018, the profile of the tram tracks was changed. From a profile with a conical rolling surface - T81 to a profile RPSf-2018, whose rolling surface has two roundings with different radii. Observations show that with the new profile the intensity of the initial wear of the tracks is lower. When a certain degree of wear is reached, the wear is already the same as with the old profile or similar to it. There is also a difference in the wear of the treads of tram cars that serve the same route as a priority. The difference depends on the condition of the tram track on different sections of the tram system. At the same time, all tram cars have a characteristic wear of the working side of the flanges of the left wheels. Based on statistics, a comparison was made of the type, shape and intensity of wear of the treads with the two tread profiles - T81 and RPSf-2018. The contact zones of the treads with the RPSf-2018 profile, which have initial and advanced wear with tracks built with rails of types S49 and Ri60N with the usual wear, were studied. An attempt was made to clarify the reasons for the different degree of wear of the tread rings and the particular wear of the flanges of the left wheels with the new tread profile. Assumptions have been made about the reasons determining the differences in the intensity and type of wear, as starting points for further and more in-depth research.
