MODERN TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LITHIUM-IRON-PHOSPHATE BATTERIES

The battery is one of the main elements of the hybrid solar system and the electric vehicle. It is a source of electrical energy necessary to power consumers during the dark part of the day or the electric motor in the electric vehicle. The topic of the report is entirely focused on modern lithium-iron-phosphate LiFePo4 batteries, their development trends, including the assembly of an electric vehicle battery with new type elements.

It’s repeated cyclic charging and discharging allows for energy storage and autonomous power supply of various electrical devices and equipment, as well as for providing backup energy sources in transport, energy, electric vehicles, household and industrial solar systems.

The report presents basic technical data for lithium-iron-phosphate LiFePo4 rechargeable batteries of a newer type. A comparison is made between lithium-ion cells of the 18650 type and the new LiFePo4 of the LF304 type. The advantages and disadvantages of small and large rechargeable cells are indicated. A graph of the battery”s cyclic life is presented. Information is given about BMS systems, which are an integral part of the composition of a perfect battery. A tabular view shows the main parameters of a corresponding battery.
