Sustainable development is a key principle in the long-term vision for the development of Bulgaria. Transport plays a fundamental role in the economy, but also has a significant environmental footprint. The development of the intermodal transport network is closely related to sustainable development. The report will focus on the main priorities and objectives aimed at reducing harmful emissions in transport, increasing energy efficiency, improving accessibility and safety, and integrating transport systems.

In this regard, the main priorities for achieving sustainable transport are aimed at specific actions in public and rail transport, electric mobility, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.

Sustainable transport improves accessibility, reduces congestion and improves the efficiency of the economy and has a positive impact on the development of the transport system.
